Architecture by Alvaro Siza. Designed with landscape Architect Sidonio Pardal created an angular concrete extension to the renovated Monastery. The landmark is a minimalistic white concrete building with a pair of towers and a sheltered entrance in between them. Openings punctured into the tower and roof draw light inside the extension to create a play of light and shadow across the interior. In the courtyard stands a concrete sculpture named Wayfarer which referencing the structure’s proximity to the Camino de Santiago. the extension led by Foundation Livraria Lello.
